I don't have the razor. I have seen it online. But can't report about the shaving quality.

I visited a bookshop and there was a book about the culture of the cultural revolution.

In it there was a picture of the razor with the text. Safety razor with a metal box. Brand flying eagle with Mao slogan. The core of the shaping power, that is leading our cause, is the communist party of China. The theoretical base, that is leading our thinking, is Marxism-Leninism. End of the sixties. Museum of Ethnology Vienna.

I'm no expert in marxism, leninism, of maoism so I don't know what the slogan means. But Lenin and Marx had a beard so I don't know of the quality of the shave.

I've been curious why there are so many Flying Eagle razors on the French Ebay. Maybe because of the popularity of Maoism in 1960~ 70's French?

@nongillette I don't know. French people are always are always depicted as left, but most of the time they have a right wing president and a right party majority.

I also don't think those bearded maoist were very keen on shaving. Or is it maybe that the flying eagle is that bad, they grew beards, because the razor is unusable. Who knows. I never read a history book about the relationship of European maoism and shaving.

Flying eagle was made in Shanghai China. It's the city with most foreigners in the country (a lot of north Americans and Europeans).

These razors were probably sold to foreigners.
The box is very beautiful and elegant.
Didn't shave with it yet, and will take this opportunity to use it this Sunday.

That Flying Eagle is pretty cool. I just saw one a few minutes ago on an auction in france...was a hodge podge kinda dodgy lot for ~50 euro. I was intrigued with a Leresche in the lot.
