Help identifying Cuticule

My second post here :w00t:

I am usually Jnat junky, but recently got hang of coticules and i just cant get enough of them now !!

I have 5 now and i know witch layer they all are from except for one that i traded with one member from BB

The only thing he told me that it is vintage one and he did not know much about it.

I can see that its some kind of combo there are some BBW spots in the coticule side and some coticule spots in BBW side

BBW feels a lot smoother and much like coticule much faster then regular BBW too

I think the best place to identifying it is here !!!

So here you go some pictures :

Hey Maksim,

so, we finally got the Danish Jnat junky too
Well, identification of coticules is business for itself. Basically, if the rocks stem from Ardennes-Coticules, which is the only quarry still in operation, then identification is usually possible. Looking at your hone, I assume that this a piece what some people refer to as "vintage" coticule. And there it gets difficult.
In the early days there were many coticule quarries spread throughout the Ardennes. The geological formation of the coticule layers varies significantly over the the whole area. There are many layers that are not mined at Ardennes, and there are certainly layers that may not even have gotten a dedicated name - or at least the name is not passed on. The old quarries may have had access to different layers than Ardennes has today. And so forth .... Complicated - isn't it? But the baseline is just that identification of "vintage" coticules is next to impossible.
Anyway, you've got a nice hone. More important than putting a name tag to it is that you enjoy it!

Cheers

Thats a thng that I didn´t know. and leared here.
As we have coti,, we want to know what they are..
But, they work well, even if we dont know what´s her name.

Catch, photograf and release........

Absolutely spot on :)

Far more important than naming the layer, is enjoying the layer

Best regards

It definitely looks different than any Coticule I ever saw from the known layers (Ardnennes). That makes it likely a Coticule from one of the nowadays closed mines.

Of course, these old Coticules work as well as the more recently mined ones.
Enjoy it!

Kind regards,
Bart.
