Suede finished strop

I see one of the six strops I received is two piece. The back and front are bonded together and both sides have a gray suede finish. There is faint marking on both sides. I can only make out Dry at the end of the first line and towel at the end of the second line. I will try to read it in sun lite if we get any today.

The questions are has anyone used a strop finished like this or seen one before?

I can not read it any better in sun lite. I just stropped a Pinder on one side of the strop it is quite noisy but it did bring the edge to sharpness.

The Old Traditional strop as sold by The Different Scent in Berlin, has a nubuck type surface. These strops are designed to be replicas of an old an highly efficient strop. The "mother strop" is on display at the store of The Different Scent.
The leather is of a dull grayish brown color, and is has a very nice draw that "grabs" the razor and promotes good contact.
The surface is velvety like nubuck, but not as fuzzy as velvet.

Kind regards,
Bart

I have a premium horsehide strop made by Ambrose that I would not describe as suede, exactly, but similar in that it has an almost velvety finish. It has a unique draw, in my opinion.

Bart from what I read on the web about the finish of Nutbuck leather I think you are correct that this strop is Nutbuck finished and not suede. I sent some pictures to Emmanuel but your copy to coticule.be bounced.

I received the forwarded e-mail, but there were no pictures attached.

Kind regards,
Bart.

Ok?

Bart.

No, the Old Traditional doesn't look nearly as grainy.

Here's a picture:

There is nothing special to report about its use. I just strops very pleasantly and does what every functional strop will do: bring the edge in peak condition and restores it that way prior to each shave.

Kind regards,
Bart
