i’m Mathew. I love shaving with a straight razor and honing them as well.
I started little over 2 years ago so im a complete novice. Im a big fan of Martin Test Shaves on youtube. I usually shave on saturday while watching on of his videos (more listening actually).
Gary Haywood, Eric The Cajun Blade, Dr. Matt are my favorites as well. In the beginning Learned a lot from dr.Matt.
I found this page during my search for advise about the belgian coticule.
I was checking the website coticule.be but it wasn’t active anymore, somehow I found this website with all the information that was previous on coticule.be.
I started honing on a coticule in July and i’m still in the learningcurve ; sometimes it works most of the time I still fail achieving a smooth gripping edge. I have a very small coticule (15x4 cm) and big veinette wich has a triangular shape (21 x 7 cm)
I am also using a kanayama strop but the linen strop is very stiff so i am looking for advise on how to soften it . I also want to learn how to keep my leather strop in good condition and how restore the glassy smoothness it has in the beginning.
