Merkur 34

There was no thread for the Merkur 34. My first safety razor was a Merkur 34c. Many razors later I bought the redesigned Merkur 34c. On the sister forum @Hellas has been posting that he had been a beta tester for the prototype. The old machinery had been worn down so there was the opportunity for a change. @Hellas said he was a big fan of the Merkur 34 of the fifties and sixties. This model is said to be close to that. The new head bends the blade more and has a bigger gap.

@efsk has promised to post pictures. I'm not a great photographer, but maybe my photos give a different view. Mine is the so called special edition with a marked topcap.

I also added pictures with the old 34c. You can see on the model that the blade tabs are now covered.

The Merkur 34 has been a steady constant in the wet-shaving world for decades. Funnily enough, I've never owned one. Until now, and it's the same special edition as the one shown above by @ehv except his is a lower number :)
I'd love to see the older models as well, hint hint

Because the city of Solingen was founded 650 years ago, Merkur chose to launch their new CC-head in a special edition, limited to 650, and chose to do so with their steady contender, the Merkur 34C.
Beautifully packaged, with numbered wrap around the shipper, numbered insert, and the razor in it's own, leather, SG650-branded travelthingy, I rather like this set.

I forgot to mention. The Mühle cap fits perfectly on the previous model. You can still put it on the new one, but you really have to apply a little more force. I think the top cap of the new model is thicker. I don't mind that I will not use the Mühle cap. I now have a very nice leather razor bag.
