I know many already own a Timeless razor of one type or another, however I know that many might be interested in their latest release which is the slim edition base plate. Unlike the regular base plate, the Slim has comes only SB or OC in either stainless steel or titanium. They advertise this to be a .5 mm blade gap, however it is noted that this is not the same as their usual .68 or .95 mm blade gap of their other razor. Many have tried explaining the mystery of why this is the most aggressive of the timeless line, but for myself, I just got the cheapest used one on BST, which turned out to be a stainless steel OC base plate with scalloped cap (which I assumed would probably be the most aggressive version).
I previously owned a stainless steel SB with standard cap and .95 blade gap, which was a smooth shaver, but very heavy and bulky and not as efficient a shaver as my other razors, and so I sold it a while back. I was hoping that the slim edition would be less bulky and heavy and slightly more efficient. Tonight I started the new year using this new addition to my collection.
When I started my WTG pass, there was significantly more blade feel than normal, however, by adjusting the angle, the blade feel disappeared. The razor was easier to get to the area under my nose and more nimble because of it lighter weight (about half the regular weight). I could have stopped after the WTG pass and just go to touch up at that point, however since I was testing a new razor, I did a complete ATG pass. I did not have to go further than two passes to get a BBS Overall, the shave was very smooth and efficient. For those that already own a Timeless, this slim base plates are totally interchangeable with the rest of the Timeless parts.
