Bakelite razors in use and collection

I can relate to your first sentence. Will try the second (although my last one was 2020) later this week.
That shave with the 45C was soooo good.
BBS doesn't even describe it. I've seen babies with rougher skin than my face right now :)
Using a fresh Feather blade probably helped as well.
I'll still stick with SE shaves though. I like to use razors older than myself...

This razor has arrived to me. It is normal, rot has damaged the threads, but the razor is assembled and tightened. And now for the interesting part - this is the horrible Frankenrazor. It consists of three parts from different razors that I was able to identify. The handle is from a razor made in Moscow factory; the plate is made in Leningrad factory, and the head, with the highest probability, is made in Kharkov factory. After assembling this machine, I felt like Victor Frankenstein, the man who created the monster, it seemed so frightening to me.

Twisted it in my hands, I realized that this is a donor for further experiments. Having rummaged through my warehouse of all sorts of shaving stuff, I found this Soviet set with a simple name "Shaving apparatus". The Leningrad plate fits it perfectly and it looks good.

But the topic of the bakelite razor was not closed and I continued my search. They were successful and now I have a razor, approximately from 1954, manufactured by the Moscow Metalware Plant No. 1 "Red Star" (which since 1955 has been called the Factory of Automatic Safety Shaving Machines, and the "ЗАББ" logo appeared on the shaving plate). I received the razor in very, very good condition, complete with a case and a full pack of new Neva blades from 1954.

That last one looks like the one I have, no case, just the razor. It's an impressive shaver! :daumenhoch

Judging by their appearance and geometry, I am sure that our razors are made at the same factory. The only difference may be in the years of production (the logo on the plate is a hint).
I have not tried it in action yet. It needs to be washed, cleaned and disinfected.

I tried shaving with this razor. Overall I liked it, but you need to get used to the light weight and slightly different glide (than metal razors)
