Crack in my coticule

A thin crack is developping on my coticule and seems to continue in its thickness

has it an effect on honing performance? can I still continue to use the part of the coticule beyond the crack?

Laurent

Bonsoir Laurent,

When you hone a razor with that coticule, do you feel it when you pass the crack ?
I have a coticule with a similar crack, but I don't feel it through the razor so it doesn't affect it.

At first sight it seems too small to effect performance.

Kind regards,
Wim

I don't think it'll cause trouble.

Do you feel the crack when the razor passes over it?
Can you see "into" the crack, or is a tightly closed line?

Kind regards,
Bart.

No I can't feel the crack when I pass the razor (or my finger, nail...) over nor can I see "into" the crack that's why I asked this question.
But I'm not a very good honer:blush: .

Maybe a strange question, but are you sure it hasn't always been there. On the picture it looks more like a manganese hairline than a crack.

Look at this beautiful and perfect Coticule:

Now that's something to drool over. I bet it's wicked fast, too.

I noticed last night some faint lines like on Laurent's coticule on my Pike coticule. It functions flawlessly nonetheless.

If that is an "extra" les latneuses you just have laying around, I'll gladly give you 22.00 bucks for it and even pay the shipping. Your consideration is appreciated, Denny

Yeah, he's going to auction it. You thought the price on that Belgian razor got high. (Actually, I'm surprised it didn't get higher.)

When I received my La Veinette, I took a picture to show it on this forum. And I have just noticed at the same location what I call, the beginning of the crack.

I don't think it's an inclusion but I'm not a specialist and it's difficult to realize on a picture.

^ I can't quite make it out. Is it that thick black line in the center of the hone at the top?
