Enders Blade Adapter

I have made my own injector blade carriers to use in my Enders razors, but I have found an adapter that should last much longer than my attempts. It's a little pricy, but in the end I think it will be worth it. I found it at Hendrix Classics. It is more robust and sturdy than my attempts. The pictures are from their site. The blade is held in place with magnets and bumps up against a shoulder. I love my Enders razors and wish that blades were still available, but this adapter will make my razors get a lot more face time. Hopefully it will get here sometime this week. I plan to use my Enders razors for next week's shaves.

I have spent so much time trying to design a 3D-printed Enders adapter for injector blades. No luck.
$30 plus postage from the US to the UK is probably more than I can justify.
But... I might revisit my old failed project with the word 'magnets' in my head.
When yours arrives, can you send me some detailed pictures, Jim? Just for inspiration :)

I will do. I felt that price was a little pricy for me, too, but the time and energy I have put into making a carrier, I feel like I should have done this years ago.
 
I need to check this one out. That Enders razor is a beautiful piece that needs to be used.
That 30$ adapter is made by hand.
@sɐǝɹpu∀ what material are you going to use to make the adapter? This one is metal.
 
It looks like its made out of brass.
I have an Enders that arrived with another razor. I've never looked at it carefully.
It could be a project for a rainy afternoon.

I'm a plastics guy. I had issues with the blades sticking to the 3D-printed adapters.
Magnets! I have done magnets. Why didn't I think of this? (I still have the original design files and a box full of magnets)
However, you can easily use an original Enders blade as a shim, as the following video by Jim shows:
(@Jayaruh , can you check if that new adapter is Proline only or if it will take other blades?)

The new adapter is supposed to arrive today, about 2 hours from now. I am thinking it will accommodate any injector blade. I will check though.

I used the original blade as a shim but 2 of my unused blade broke after a handful of shaves. So my concern for the adapter is its longevity.

Absolutely.
The prototypes I made had no problems on that front.
(BTW: I just ordered one of the metal ones with gritted teeth. A bit over my usual budget, but I need to follow up on my article... and I love Endres razors)

Well, I have to ask, what model are you used and which one are you getting?

I have no idea what that question means.

There is a YouTube video of a guy using one of those adapters:


Don't watch it all. Men shaving on YouTube are boring.
But he says that his Personna injector blade was too wide and he had to dremmel the sides off it.
So I guess it's Proline only. (anything else would have puzzled me)

@Jayaruh - Thank you very much, Jim.
As I expected: Only the Proline works reliably, because it is not as wide as any other injector-style blade.
Thanks for the measurements (and for using metric), they are very interesting, especially when compared to fairly exact measurements of an Enders blade.
Even the adapter is wider than an original Enders blade.
I still can't believe that I already have an almost working design for an adapter. I just need to add magnets and then they will cost very little to make.
(I didn't know that until very recently)

BTW: Your second measurement (the 6mm one) could be improved with this handy caliper trick:

Ah.
I have never owned a 3D printer and don't plan to get one.
So far I have outsourced my 3D printing needs to a guy with (I believe) a Prusa something mark 3.
I have used a professional company for making a few dozen of the transparent razors above.
No idea what they were using. Some industrial SLA resin thing.
I have just joined a maker space and they have Ultimaker 2+ and 3 (the really expensive stuff)
But unfortunately no sheet metal press.
(Fortunately, actually. It's a deeeeeep rabbit hole. But making my own HR-P1 would be tempting)
