GEM spine thickness old vs new blade

I recently got a gem clog pruf. It contained an old blade. This gave me the opportunity to measure the spine of the old blade vs the bew blades. The spine of the current blade is thinner.

I read at some places that people add half a spine of a new blade under a new blade to correct the shaving angle. I have never done that, maybe something to try in the future.

There are better ways of shimming than using half a spine.

The blade is only lifted .14" higher at the spine, you can easily compensate the shave angle while shaving. You vary more than that during a normal stroke. Adding a half a spine is extreme over compensation.

I use Personna GEM blades in my Clog-Pruf and the shaves are wonderful, no shims necessary.
