God I love those Garnets!

BBW cuts much slowly than coticule usually. But you have to try.Maybe you ll find smoother edge there my friend.
Best regards
Emmanuel

I found my BBW engaging, which is perfect as my coti is lovely and mellow. might keep the engaging edges for summer when its warmer and I don't feel the cold air against my skin so much. I also find it an easier stone to use - in my case.

Thank you very much for your words. The more and more I use these stones the more I adore them. Most of my other stones are neglected now, japanese stones, nortons, Eschers, etc. There's something in these stones that gives me the best skin friendly results. You're stone is a very nice one, indeed! I have a large la nouvelle veine myself and the finish is very skin friendly, enjoy.

I'm flattered to be mentioned in that post.

Thank you

Familiar faces makes a community, and every thread I look at Bart, Gary, Emmanuel, Dr. Ralfson, Paul the researcher Disburden and Torbs - which I forgot to put into my first post, sorry  - all get stuck in because you love coticules and love talking about them, its brilliant and is rarely found these days, so thank you.

It's thanks to this site and regular contributors that I can hone at all on a coticule now.

Exactly my thoughts, I'd be buttering rolls with my razors if I didn't have this place :)

Finally managed to get pics of my coti, if anyone knows where it could be from, its very plain looking but cuts very quick on slurry and very slow on water, like honing on glass.

its backed with slate and is a standard grade coti.

kind regards, Alex

thanks Nick, I've just started messing around with jnat's which are fun as well and very nice stones, seem to be compatible with some edges that the coti sort of struggles with a little bit, but I have to say my coti is always going to be my favourite stone for its simplicity and soft edges (my BBW as well).

regards Alex

i've just ben using my standard 150x40mm la vainette , that i purchased from superior shave , i never had much look of my previuos LV's and just sold them on, i decided to get another and realy give it a good going over. the edges have been oh so soft and delicate, coti's have always been my favourite stone. reason being i no what there capable of. its always nice to hear from some one who just realizes and acheives ther best edge of coti. Thats why there so popular with the straight razor community.
