This week a year ago a much respected member of our German sisterforum passed away. Must have been the reason I dreamt that I should use one of his razors. He was always wondering/annoyed/amused by the fact that There's so many razors in my collection I've never used.
His inheritance was that his razors should be auctioned of at the forum and the proceeds should go to animal wellfare. So I acquired some (actually bid against myself because a razor did not receive the attention it should get).
And, seeing all the above, today was the day I would use one. I wanted to go with one of his beloved cartridge razors, but thought better of it, what with a 6-day, half centimeter beard. So the vintage gold Merkur Progress it was.
Schizo Simpson, MdC Original, a fresh Merkur blade (these are really good btw).
With the grain on 4.5, across on 3.5, against on 3. First time in over a year that I shaved three passes.
Perfect irritation-free BBS. The Progress showed what a fantastic razor this model is.
