Keep your linen clear

Thank you Emmanuel,
That is a great idea! If one used a thin plastic bag or cello tape sticky side out and away, the filings/powder could be easily removed from the magnet. I use tape over the magnets my magnetic blade holder to remove any fines and replace it before I use it to polish a blade. That prevents having ghosts of the magnets on the blade.

You may harvest neodymium magnets from old computer hard drives… they are a pain to get out, but worth it. They are attached to a steel backing, and I suggest you don’t attempt to remove from the backing as the magnet is very brittle and will certainly brake.
In any case it has a flat, circle-shaped surface that will pick up anything magnetic.

However a word of warning… Do NOT ALLOW the magnet anywhere near your razor… it is very unpredictable, in the blink of an eye, will pull the steel towards it so fast, you won’t have time to prevent the edge snapping against the magnet… you have been warned![/note]

Hello Smythe,
I agree with your comment of the possibility of losing a blade when near that powerful a magnet.

I am double careful when using the fixture and also around the the ones I have set up as a place to hang jobs in work from off my bench and the ones I use for my rotation in the lav..

Also I believe there was an earlier reference to the "ouch" of getting a bit of skin between two of the wee beasties. Been there!

Indeed I've been bitten a few times by a pair... it's like carelessly working with an all metal rat trap.

But that hanger is a good idea... I may try it in the workshop.w
