Quite a number of Solingen-produced blades have an etching of a metal bridge on them. I always wondered what a bridge had to do with shaving, but for some reason my normally rather inquisitive mind left it there. Until, some time ago, I realized it is a major, if not the Solingen landmark. The Müngstener Brücke. The highest railway bridge in Germany, shortening travel from 44 to 8km, this thing was quite a miracle when it was opened in 1887.
