Meeting Up

Germany isn't a country to go to if you want decent food.
I've never had a wow-moment (in the positive sense that is) when eating in Germany.
Although I do like a decent Schnitzel, and I haven't been to the fancy places I must admit, but those shouldn't be the reference.

Make that decent local food, unless you like hearty and rustic. Best sausages in the world, for example. But stuffed pig's stomach simply isn't for everyone.

Schnitzel is Austrian, not German. ;) But you can get very decent food almost anywhere. The main problem is that Germans spend far too little money on food, unlike the French for example. Because you get what you pay for: http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m3284/is_n4_v12/ai_8274319/ makes for an extremely depressive read.

Best sausages in the world ?
The best I've personally tasted were made in France (merguez) or in Spain (lomo iberico).

Unless, you mean "best sausages in the world made with meat-like substances or if you're really lucky those remainders of meat that can't be used for dog food". CMOT Dibbler comes to mind.

Wiener schnitzels are what I order when in Germany. Never ever again will I eat boiled unidentified pork-parts (especially not with apfelwei).

Across the board? Yes, Germany has the best, especially those from Bayern or Thüringen. Try a Coburger Bratwurst if you can. ;)

I recall that an analysis in the 90s showed that across the board, the quality of the meat in dog food was better than that in sausages. Again, you get what you pay for. I do not buy meat in supermarkets for that reason.

Ah yes, the infamous Cider variation from Hessen. Makes for phenomenal headaches if you're not careful. But nice with Zwiebelkuchen.

But remeber: At the end of the day, we always have beer. Except in Berlin.

To come back to the original topic (not that I don't like a good Wurst ;) ): I'd like to bring Solingen back on the radar. I mean, c'mon guys, we're a bunch of razor addicts. Thinking back to the coti weekend last year I doubt that we will have a problem having fun anywhere in the world. But we should think of an official legtimation for the trip, just in case the ol' lady ask some questions ...

What about Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada!! Sounds to me like the most logical area for us to meet! ::thumbup:

I second that motion. I suggest we don't do it in winter though. :)

I totally agree.
