My new Coti

The Coticule appears to me line a "La Nouvelle Veine", the slurry stone is most likely a La Dressante.

Thank you for that wonderful post, never mind the beer too much.:D
It's good to read about positive honing experiences. It's only normal that most threads on this forum are about guys struggling with their learning curve, because that's when people go hunting for information and tips. Reading all those threads may lead to the impressions that honing on Coticules is very difficult. Nonetheless, a lot of guys catch on with it quite rapidly, certainly with Unicot. That's why we don't see many threads about that procedure. It's too easy.:D

Kind regards,
Bart.
WHAT???? I wasn't sent one of the layers I asked for????...Thank goodness I payed with Paypal (Just kidding of course!) . Actually the only reason I care what layer it is so I can begin to understand the qualities of the different layers and by comparing specimens in the vault to what my experiences are with this one perhaps gain a better understanding of the different stones.

Might be easier to just go work for them for a few months though :w00t:

Whatever it is it's a great stone and cuts fast. I am a pleased customer of Maurice for sure.

I don't know what you asked for, but my assessment is of course only one man's hunch. That's why I wrote "it appears to me"... It wouldn't be the first time Maurice overrules a stone ID of mine. :) (And not the first time, I think to myself "and still I'm right") Anyway, in this case, Maurice held it in his hands, he has seen the entire stone, and touched it. If he said something else, please go with what he stated.

Kind regards,
Bart.

Bart I hope you know that the post you quoted was just a attempt at humor on my part. I am very happy with my stone and wouldn't let things such as a different layer bother me.

I requested a La Veinette, La Petite Blanche,or Les Latneuses since those are the layers that came recommended due to the size of the stone I was purchasing...I choose the 3 recommended that you said tended to be natural combo stones and crossed my fingers ;) I got a combo stone and the coti side cuts fast...Nothing to complain about on my part. Sometimes it's hard to convey a joke across a written medium like a forum...More than once I have come off looking like a half cocked idiot:lol:

Cheers
Charlie

It's ok, Charlie. I know that problem all too well, being a half-cocked idiot and all. :D

The stone is probably a La Petit Blanche, then. A blue line running all the way round, slightly above the natural BBW/Coticule joint, is consistent with that layer, but on your picture is appeared to me as a black line, and that second black line made me rather think it was a La Nouvelle Veine. But as said, I've been wrong before...

At any rate, they're all good.

Kind regards,
Bart.
