The frailty of goldwash has always been a turn-off to me. I prefer blades where just the form is the beauty, without glittery embellishment. I have a number of goldwashed razors, sigh.
I tried Honda (yes, the motorcycle) spray polish and cleaner, first with just a dab on a Q-tip, then with a soft cloth & vigorous rubbing. 'No negative affect on the goldwash at this point. It also does nice things to Celluloid, Plastic. Only buffers really improve on it with the scales.
If you try it - certainly try with great care, but so far, its working beautifully for me.
