Red and Black Old Type

Well-Known Member
Back in 2017, my friend, Tom White on The Shave Den, sent me this custom Old Type that he did custom Gun Kote coatings on.

He did a red and black coating that he baked on, and he had a special carbon fiber tube made for the handle. I have been shaving with the razor all week. I will finish up with it on Saturday.

He also turned this brush handle and did matching coating for it. The knot is a 20 mm silvertip badger.

Looking mighty nice. Do you usually prefer smaller knots in your brush?
Most of my brushes have 20 to 26mm knots. I am a face latherer and have no use for bowls or cups outside of holding soaps or other stuff. I can lather with most brushes with no problem. I am happy to lather with any size knot. I have been known to use big knots. This one is a 30mm knot from Maggard. The Jayaruh #434. It measures 33x59mm after finished.
