I think it was Laurent that suggested lots of laps on the CrOx pasted strop. It's a fairly common practice on European forums to maintain blades with pasted strops ( I believe).
Short of sending it out to have it honed, that's about the only option I think you have available to you.
Since you and I are both in Canada, I'd be more than glad to hone it up for you, if you like. There is also the free honing offer avaliable through the forum.

edit: I see the good Dr Ralfson is a much faster typist than I. I'd recommend taking him up on his offer. Postage between Commonwealth countries is quite cost effective, and rather quick.
 
My take on it is you've got little to lose. Have at it with the CrOx pasted strop. Just be careful not to roll the edge. I've never taken a razor from factory edge to shave ready that way, but the couple of NOS razors I have done took a fair amoount of work on the stones. Wether or not it will work, and wether or not you will enjoy the shave is anyone's guess.

Chris i already sent one to Ralfy.
I did shave whit it last night, very uncomfortable and needs a touch up.
i'm no pro but i think it only needs little improvement, maybe some more stropping, and maybe my strop is not ready as Ralfy seems to suggest.

If i cant fix it by stropping, i will take you on that offer.

Is this your only razor? If yes , we need to get you some help. I would be glad to sharpen that Revisor for you, and lend you a second one that you could use for practice honing, once it became dull. In the mean time, you could still shave on with the Revisor, while you work to get the less expensive practice razor properly honed. Leaning the skills is not advisable on a precious razor.
Unfortunately, I 'm in Belgium and with would take long to ship that Revisor back and forth.
That's why I suggest that one of our Canadian based members extend a similar offer ( I hope it's ok to make such a suggestion).

But my offers stands.

I just meant that you had not put any Crox on it, all you need do is use it :thumbup:
Also you may wish to take up one of the offers and get it honed before you start.

I know Adri has at least one other as I am waiting for it to arrive so I can hone it

Very kind of you Bart.

I have like 20 Razors for practice and restore in my free time.
Different grinds and brands.

I've bought 2 Razors shave ready but none is shave ready.:confused:

I've sent one to the good Dr, wich should be there soon.

Then i bought the Revisor after reading about them.

If theres no solution to have the Revisor shave ready just by stropping it, i will take Chris offer.

Chris, I was not suggested adri to use pasted strop. I was just wanting to show him that is razor edge was quite close to shave ready in comparison with other factory edge razor. French people often use paddle strop with crox because they think it's the easiest way and don't want to invest in a coticule and because crox give also a smooth edge. But it happens than some beginners ruin the edge with this technique (I don't know how but they do). If you can read french you can visit the french straightrazorforum, adri http://coupechouclub.cultureforum.net/ and see by yourself some bad experiences.

If I were you, i will wait my coticule and meanwhile read thoroughly all the articles of the sharpening academy read also this http://www.coticule.be/the-cafeteria/topic/235.html that's what I have done some monthes ago.
And then when you get your coticule, you will have to choose either to make your Revisor shave ready with your Coticule (if your confident enough), or try the exercises on a cheap razor and then go to your Revisor or send your Revisor to the free honing service.
I am not an intrepid guy so I have tried with cheap razor first and now I'm confident enough to touch up my Revisor. And if I fail :blush: I may ask for the help of the honing service.

Adri, I know it can be a little disappointing to order a razor that is supposed to be shave-ready, and after waiting for some time, it finally arrives but doesn’t shave well. And to add to the discomfort, now you have to wait (again) for it to sharpened and returned to you. But these things do happen even with the absolute best of products from the best of craftsmen. We are all human and sometimes one or even two may slip by.

It's a good that you post about the issue here so you can get the matter resolved without additional cost or discomfort (except shipping time) from any of the folks who offered in this thread. And I am sure even Mr. Kronenberg would be most apologetic and more than willing to have your razors sharpened at no additional cost to you.

Though you already have a couple of offers, let me also offer to sharpen you razor, I am in N.Y. if you ship it to me, I will sharpen and return without cost to you.

I had a surprise in the mail today :w00t: not only i received Urmas Les Latneuses... but also received the order i put in with Maurice, since i was not expecting the honor of having Bart to choose a coticule for me.

So now i have Urmas Les Latneuses and 3 bouts #9 from Maurice... a La Veinette, a La Petite Blanche, and a Les Latneuses.

I I'm a noob so i will practice with one coticule on a Razor for that purpose.

I will send the Revisor to Chris and use my DE for now.:(

I hear that stone is wonderfully and unusually mellow. I'd love to try an edge honed on it.
 
hi there to all the company I would like to ask Bart and robin because I respect them for their knowledge and of course if anyone has an opinion what to prefer dovo special razor or any of the revisors and this because I have spoke as a consumer with dovo representatives who are responsible for exports and told me that on carbon steel razors use 1,2210 which in Germany is silversteel and Swedish style steel for bergischer Lowe that does not come from Sweden but is constructed in Germany with the composition style of original swedish steel alloy and I have been told that bergischer Lowe is more expensive because as a blank is being cut in bigger piece of steel as it has a lot of work in it as spine etc so I would like to ask Bart first of all where he heard that dovo uses simple high carbon steel as I have been told that the basic carbon steel used in dovo is 1,2210 and I am confused what to choose as I like the dovo special tortoise because of it's simplicity or a revisor is there any difference on sharpness or on quality or something? please help also I would like to say to robin that I made registration in it's blog and I am waiting confirmation I am petrakos from straightrazorplace and I discovered from there cuticle be and of course robins page :)
