Stropping.

Ralfy, if I had to walk into that every morning after crawling out of bed I'd probably eventually gouge my eyes out with a pen.

The heater keeps the house dry during the winter months, and during the height of summer the RH is like 12% :scared: . You can literally watch water evaporate, it's insane. I like that I don't sweat my ass off like in humid climates, hell, I don't even break a sweat mowing the lawn! But I didn't realize how important humidity can be until I moved out here.

I was just thinking about how cool it is that everyone sort of has their own stropping technique with their own little quirks.

There are some people out there that say they can get 6+ months off an edge just from stropping, I was thinking it would be cool to see a video of them stropping to compare. Personally I've only been able to go about 1.5 month, as I'm not very experienced.

Blimey I cant go that long resisting the urge to Hone ... hahaha :w00t:

This was a great article and addition to the site. My biggest problem with using a straight razor thus far is the stropping before a shave. I feel I can hone up a razor decently to an edge that can shave my face, especially with Coticule, BBW, Coticule, but stropping is so hard for me. I always turn my wrist at the end of my stropping strokes and it's annoying, I've been trying everything to stop the habit.

When I started out, I too had some trouble adopting good stropping habits. Turning the wrist was a problem I had to unlearn myself after doing it for 3 or 4 months. What worked for me was this: start the stroke at the far end oh the strop, with the hand in correct position (palm facing down). That way, when you reach the first turning point (at the handle end), it's impossible to turn your wrist (unless you break it;, or flip the razor over the edge:thumbdown: ; but neither of that will happen). It really helped putting my mind in a different mode to start from the other side. Maybe it'll help you as well.

Best regards,
Bart.

An old barber advised me to put a coin on the top of the hand to practice the correct position...
Never succeeded, by the way.

Hahaha no its PINK! PINK! I SAY! FOR PINK IS THE COLOUR OF LOVE !!!
Actually my wifes choice, but I dig it too, I am very happy with my sexuality btw hahaha

Actually, yes I did. But I only did Archeological tours to 1,300 year old cliff side indian dwellings. Hard to realize that during that period these people were just discovering rope and pulleys while Europe was building things like Cathedrals.
