do you think you would be confident enought to do 50 laps on coti?. use some lather to help keep controll. crox on balsa can be a little harsh, i my self prefer crox on leather strop.

Gary, do you mean paddle strop or hanging strop?

The problem with my coticule is that I don't have for the moment consistent results. Sometimes I get an HTT-3 off the hone and sometimes I have to struggle to get an HHT-2. I have tried to hone on lather but that didn't really help me (maybe because I have not the right lather).
Nevertheless, I have not tried the thumbnail nick but have shaved once without stropping and it seems the edge has become smoother.

hanging strop. just take your time and do 30 on water on coticule, if not try nail lightly
