Given to me for my birthday a few years ago, now finished.
I learned to like it more than I thought. But still I'm more into balms, so not rebuying anytime soon.
As you are an expert I would like you to ask a question regarding the different brands of witch hazel makers.
Which brand do you prefer?
In the past I have used Physalis, Thayer's, and now Dickinsons. I also have Humphrey's, but have not used it yet.
The thayer's were the normal and lavender. Both were without alcohol. I understood from postings on badger and blade that these toner's are not real witch hazels. The witch hazel content is too low. That you need the astringent alcohol versions like Dickinsons, Humphrey's astringent. The Physalis also container alcohol. These smell less nice, but do they work better?
I'm absolutely no expert on Witch Hazel.
I have used several brands and actually stayed with the Humphreys.
The Witch Hazel Astringent has 14% alcohol (see the photo) and after shaving I like it very much as a replacement for the alum block, only the smell takes some getting used to.
That's why I went to the Facial Toners with Lilac, Citrus Cucumber & Melon. The effect is less what I solved by filling the bottle with the WG astringent when it was half empty.
But with my next purchase I won't buy Facial Toner anymore and only the Astringent Witch Hazel.
The Astringent is for my face also better than the facial toners so I mostly use the Astringent. The facial toners I always use for cleansing my face in the evening.
@The King thanks for the information. It confirms the other information I found.
I ordered also at iHerb.com. They have humphreys, but also dickinson (eg the pore perfecting toner) and some other witch hazels. I don't think there is a lot of difference in the products as long as you order the astringent alcoholic version.
In the Netherlands you can also buy physalis hamameliswater (this is witch hazel) and I can by the astringent humphreys at a local toko shop. But the price at iHerb is better.
My children also use it. They are in puberty and it really helps to reduce spots and pimples.
