Show us your coticules

You can use a light slurry from it before going to the finishing stage on the Coticule or even try finishing with its slurry on the Coticule.
just play with it to find out.

Thanks @Tony. I have designated one straight razor, an Otto Busch 164, which I acquired through you quite some time ago to be my practice razor.
It still shaved to begin with but could do with a touch up so I figured why not try to do that myself while practicing on that coti.
I follow a routine I found here from @Bart.
Just shaved with it…….let’s say not quite there yet. It shaves but I’ve had more comfortable shaves.
Practice makes perfect I guess….

This was given to me by a friend. Belonged to his father. Not really sure but this is a coticule right? Pretty worn and dirty. Went at it with some dental equipment….
Looks to be one massive piece of coticule. It’s relatively soft. Flattening wasn’t nearly as hard as I thought it would be. The surface is pretty small 85x45/23 mm, so honing could be a challenge. If anything it could be a great slurrystone.
Anyone here that can tell something about it?

Nice, it Looks like a piece of coticule. I know that people walk around the old mines and pick up pieces of coti, it could be that this is one of those pieces.
If it’s a soft one you could surely use it as a slurry stone
