Our German sister forum “Forum-der-Rasur” (= FdR) was launched on May 15, 2018 because another forum was going to be deleted. This is what we wrote at that time:
In a situation where a sense of doom rather than optimism dominated our minds, we founded this forum. Initially, it was hastily set up under the name “Das-Beste-im-Mann.de” (DBiM), but later the name was changed to “Forum-der-Rasur.de”.
The sense of doom dissipated within just a few hours when we realized how many of you visited us, immediately supported us, and eagerly helped to build, develop, and expand this new forum together in record time.
The FdR has suddenly become a new home for all of us, more wonderful than we could have ever imagined. A new community where we feel comfortable and can share the joy of wet shaving together.
This fun and tremendous energy, thanks to everyone’s help, continues to attract more and more new members, including those completely new to wet shaving. It’s practically contagious; you can’t escape this positive atmosphere.
In just a few months, the Forum-der-Rasur (FdR) has become a well-known and indispensable part of the German wet shaving world on the internet.
Despite our very young age, we would like to express our gratitude with another forum project, something one would normally only do when a community forum is a bit older.
Since we have always gone “all-in” in everything since our start and have always done everything significantly faster than “normal”, we thought we would at least maintain this speed until the end of 2018….
That’s why there will be a forum razor as early as 2018. The “FdR Forum razor 2018” as a limited edition
It’s a Merkur Progress 500 with a special handle including engraving, which makes it about 0.5 cm longer and a few grams heavier. This greatly improves the balance compared to the original short handle.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their help, the great atmosphere here in the forum, this “we-are-one-community” feeling, the great willingness to help each other and the very friendly interaction among our members in 2018.
The video below shows where the logo will appear. Based on the new forum logo (designed by user MudShark). We had to modify/simplify it slightly due to the much smaller space, without sacrificing its identity, recognition value, or legibility.
Our member harrahalmes was a tremendous help. He provided the logo suggestions and will engrave this logo on the handle he made himself.

Addemdum: Merkur liked our idea about this Forum razor so much, that they introduced themselves the Progress 500 with a similar knob years later. Obviously with a Merkur logo on it. 😉
