Thank you for posting those pictures, Jens. I see the Coticule has found a good home where it will be loved and cared for.

It sure has found a loving home!
Touched up another razor, a Solingen made full hollow with Sheffield steel.
A notoriously smooth shaver & with some 30 laps on the new coti, it was even smoother then the earlier La Grise edge.
Not that the former La Grise edge was harsh or anything, far from it, but this one really produces the most mellow edge
imaginable

And I have a suspicion that it is fairly fast on water.
Not that it really matters anyway.

I think it has one of those maganese lines (in one of the pictures)
I also included a pic of that wonderful pattern on one end.
It might look like there is more of this pattern further down on the stone.

It's also very thick, my grandsons will surely have some smooth shaves from this one too :D

This one is really great... it seems like it has a different personality at every angle. Nice pictures.

Thanks!

Yes, I can't help but thinking how it would have looked as a bigger stone...

Despite the fact that the two ends are a mere 10 cm apart, they look very different.
The middle looks more "regular" but both ends have a lot going on in them.

I'll tackle some really crocked & bent Sheffield blades this weekend, it's small, narrow size will surely be very beneficial

Hi Jens It is a beautiful stone .AS you said fast or not, is not a matter. However the mens that like the straight razor shave ,dont rush.Womens do not like to rush mens ,in any actions.

Oh what a day :w00t:

My newest addition is home. The boys from Ardennes sent a perfectly matching slurry stone, and the size is incredible.

Bart, I don't hate you :p What's interesting is that I don't really have to do much evaluation of this before offering my take. My friend, Whitebar, let me use his LPB from the same section of the strata as this stone, and I loved it. The feedback was really to my liking, but the size of this one couldn't be better for me. The guy who shaved with the razor honed on it last night called me this afternoon with advice for helping him select a coticule after seeing the process and how quickly it went

So, now I need to make room at the altar in my house for this newest addition (I also got a vintage one from Jimmy that arrived today, beautiful natural combination stone with manganese inclusions). Thank you, Bart. I love it... and I don't hate you.

I'll post pictures when I can.

Paul, glad you liked the stone. Now I can't wait to see yours in person. If only it had arrived one day sooner! It's also nice to know we roped in another convert last night. BTW, I had a nice shave this morning from the razor honed on the Las Lat.

Very cool! Yeah, it actually did arrive a day sooner... just in Texas :p

Yeah, it was funny getting that call today... 'twas fun

So here are the pictures of my lovely La Petite Blanche (in fact a little reddish:) ), Bart has chosen for me (BTW it took only one day between payment and reception:thumbup: )

and here, next to my "white" La Veinette

IMGP0004.jpg

Really interesting that a lot of people here get a La Petite Blanche too.
I have difficulties my my La Veinette in the finishing stage of dilucot, and have done some test with my La Petite Blanche and .... there were no wonders:cry:

The feeling of this stone is different more "grainy". With slurry, as Paul said, it is at firts grainy then becomes very smooth. But with water only, there is not change of feedback for me.

So I'm very interested in any remarks other member can make: for instance what kind of HHT could we expect after slurry work, what are the feedbacks, markers in the water stage...

Regards

Laurent

Look at that, it's blushing :D

What a lovely colored stone!

I'm getting more & more into the sheer looks of the coticules & not only the performance...

Everything comes with time. You will grow up to your coti with time, I hope this will happen to me too :)

I surprisingly didn't have to work today. I wasn't even expecting my Coticule to arrive, by at around 10am the mailman was knocking on my door. :w00t: The excitement!

I slowly and meticulously opened the package enjoying every second of it. Setting the contents on my lap I began unrolling the bubble wrap like a sleeping bag. The first thing I came upon was the slurry stone. It's so cute! I like how the folks at Ardennes try to pick out a slurry stone to match it's bigger brother. It's like a miniaturized version of the stone itself. And I also took my first look upon a Belgian Blue. :) After enjoying the slurry stone for a couple minutes, I continued unrolling, and unrolling until I finally came upon it.

This is a beefy stone! Both the Coticule, and the Belgian Blue are really fat. The Coticule side is homogeneous aside from a very faint manganese line that zig-zags down the hone, it reminds me of the original Donkey Kong. :D The blue side is unbelievably beautiful! So much more so in person than from pictures. It has this amazing purple hue.

I find the size to be perfect for me. It's luxuriously wide (4cm), but not excessively so. Anything narrower (at this length) and I would have to adjust my honing technique to fit it. The length feels very similar to my current stone.

Anyways, I picked up a razor I haven't touched in a while, and honed it up Unicot. On slurry the stones isn't as fast as my La Dressante, but it's still quite quick. The feel is very different too. Added some tape, gave it maybe 20 laps on light slurry then maybe 30 on water and it was poppin' hairs. I gave it another 10-20 for good measure.

The shave was great as always. :) Good god I can't believe I wrote so much about some silly stone!

Thanks for picking this one out for me Bart, I think it fits me well.

Justin

That La Dressante of yours remains one of the most beautiful Coticules I ever saw.

Have fun with the new one, Justin.

Bart

Bart, over the many months since I got it, it's been slowly changing. I don't know if you remember but on the sides you can see the different colored layers, the yellow, the pink, the green... Very slightly, yet noticeably the colors, textures, and giraffe speckles have changed. It's a living piece of natural art!

I look forward to trying out the Blue side of my new stone, I've never used a Belgian Blue before.

Sorry Joe, I drove up and picked yours up for you.

And how does it perform?

Also, if you can drive it back up to me that would be great. It's not that far of a drive :p

This one reminds me of the US flag with black stars! It looks like it was hand-designed... I think it might be perfect!

I'm glad to hear yours arrived, Drybonz..

Sometimes, I think that being surprised is the best way for it to arrive.

Beautiful stone... Enjoy it!
