Now Then You Guys

This is really tacky, but this is the only decent picture I could find. Squinting, of course. I have really sensitive eyes.

Happy B-day Mom! I can't wait for that Mexican tonight!

This picture was taken at Phantom Ranch in the Grand Canyon a few years ago. The little one is my daughter.

Thank you very much, Bart, for helping me out with the post.:)
(Bart: You're welcome, BabyDom)

Have you tried to pose for 5 min., with the sun banging stright into your eyes, to get one picture taken? :p
My girlfriend stood behind the camera (the camera wasn't of the "monkey" type, yet set to "auto" programme) and the only excuse for her is that she's a complete opposite of an engineer.
To tell the truth, she's a humanist by all means, including the ability to operate any kind of machines.
Surprisingly, she's able to drive a car like crazy... ... in a controlled environment. Don't worry.

Okay then, there you go, summer 2009:

That's quite a gem, cause I'm a photographer myself, so it's rather me who shoots the pics :)

cheers!

And might I add something else: A short presentation..what do you do for a living..or what you might do to avoid working  Some of you might even do other things than taking care of and honing razors..an ugly thought but it might be true in some cases.

I wont mind starting out:

At the age of 40 a new life has started..After working as a butcher for 22 years I`ve taking up studying full time.So with some luck,I`ll start teaching in three years. Married to my wonderfull wife wich has at least some kind of understanding for me spending so much time with razors..and I did say some kind.......I`ve got two kids, twin boys at the age of eight. My wife also has two sons. All the kids are from a previous marriage, not uncommon in Denmark at all...

As a valuable supplement to studying I`ve got a job working with adults "suffering" from autism. Thats some very very interresting peoble to be around. And at times very difficult as some are psycotics and violent as well. Also work as a volunteer at a place for addicts, alcoholics and lonely peoble.

If this is too personal...disregard it. Otherwise you might find it relevant to add a few words about yourself.

Ah 40. I'm 40.:) °March, 30th, 1969. I have a lovely wife and 2 adorable girls with her, aged 10 and 11.
Studies Sociology at University before I dropped out and rebuild an old house into a pub. We specialized in Belgian beers, served over 80 different brands. After 5 years, with a child coming I sold my share to my business partner, bought a piece of land with an old house, and spend a year rebuilding it. I love building things. Besides baking bricks and pouring glass, there's little in this house that I didn't do myself. After that, I started working as a graphics designer for a printing publishing company. (It's a five minutes drive from my home). I divide my free time between my family, a woodworking passion, sound engineering and music production (here's a recent project), hiking in the Ardennes, and spending time with a few close friends. In the margin I have this thing with straight razors. ;)
I also like to cook, to play chess, read novels, brew beer, and grow tomatoes, but I have little time at the moment to do these things.

Here are pictures of 2 out of many woodworking projects:
a bunch of razor boxes, build from single pieces of solid Merbau.

Thanks for reading,

Bart.

Bart ..as you are so much older than I, it`s really remarkable you pretend to be so much
:p fresher at mind..Hehe
I would have thought you were a geologist, chemist or phycisist( ? studying the law of physics)
And pardon my lack of english terms...It`s a brave thing to tell about yourself..respect from tiny Denmark.
Bart: In the margin you have this thing with razors....That must be some huge margine considering all the time and effort you spend here.

My Name is Ralfy and I am a Recovering Drug Addict!.....Oh Bollocks wrong meeting! hang on.........lol

I am 43, married to my 2nd wife Alicia, we have 6 children and 2 grand children between us, and have no contact with any of them, cause we are both black sheep, and individually started again with new lives, mine started 8 yrs ago, and Alicias started about 5yrs ago when she had the misfortune of meeting me!

I have tattooed for about 26 yrs and also used to build full custom motorcycles for a living, I spent 10 yrs aged 20-30 in a motorcycle club/gang and have owned and ran my Tattoo Studio for 7yrs, the last 4yrs with my wife.

I also build one off hand made Tattoo machines, shoot at things with air weapons now and then, enjoy driving my 21 yr old MK2 VW Golf, and my 1969 VW Beetle, both lowered and tweaked, and of course I love riding my Harley, I have a thing for straight razors and those funny yellow stones that sharpen them too now and then hahaha

Well, it's very interesting to learn more about you guys.

I'm a 29 year old father of two (2 year old boy and 6 year old girl). One odd thing about me is that I was always a little ahead of my peers. I sewed my wild oats from middle school through Freshman year of college, got married young, and have always had friends who were a lot older than me. In fact, most of my friends are 40+

I was a minor league baseball player for a while and retired just after my daughter was born. I couldn't stand the thought of leaving the family to be gone for half the year if I didn't HAVE to. So, I went back to university and studied Accounting. When I finished that, I worked in a firm for a while and realized that I didn't love it. So, I'm into real estate and medical device sales. I've got a very lovely and patient wife who I've known since I was in middle school and we are working on our 9th year of marriage.

I'm a give it up for the kids kind of guy apparently because I gave up my Harley ('86 Wide Glide B) ) until they get out of the house (made promises). I also choose to live in a small rural area so that we can live close to family.

Being an athlete my entire life (played basketball and American Football as well as baseball growing up), I never developed any other hobbies. I worked construction with my dad growing up and knew how to use my hands, though. This has been the ONLY hobby that has drawn me in. I'd tried collecting things, making things, etc. but I was always done with them within just a couple of months if not weeks. My wife fully expected this to be the same way, but I just keep getting more and more active.

I'm very grateful to Bart his work here. It's odd, but I genuinely feel like I've got more real friends made on here, B&B and SRP than I did in the "real world". It's nice to find a bunch of like minded guys!

When I go to the UK, I'm not going to get a tat, but I'll be paying Ralfy a visit. Also, when I head to France this summer (hopefully), if at all possible, I'll be headed a bit north to meet our hero Bartman the Avenger himself

Well, quite a boring life comparing to yours:
I'm 41, no children, single by law but getting along with my girlfriend for... ehm... ~12 years or so (is then "a girlfriend" a right term?), graduated in electronics, started as an engineer in a telecom company, slowly changed my professional profile to project management. That would be it about what I do for living.
For pleasure: 7 years in a sport shooting club during a primary and a high shool, sailing for a few years as a member of a scouting troop in a high shool, practicing aikido for 5 years during my studies, skiing but switched to snowboarding a few years ago, straigh razor shaving started not so long time ago, coticule fan since three month after this site has been established by Bart.
I'm also close to convince my girlfriend to sacrifice some part of our holiday this year and spend it visiting Ardennes in Belgium and Thiers in France instead of sizzling on some Spanish or Turkish coast. :w00t:
