Prices of stones in the Vault

That's a perfect illustration of Ardennes' admirable business ethics. I checked my correspondence. They did originally declare that hone €159.
They probably noticed it was some kind of mistake, and offered it to you at the correct price, although you already agreed to the higher price and would never know.

You'll love the smooth shaves you'll get of that one. I hope it arrives save and soon.

Bart.

Hi Bart,

Very interested in the specs of no.17

I hope you able to get to it soon.

Thanks for all of your hard work.

Seth

I don't know that yet. Prices are the same as on the website of Ardennes Coticule.
I 'm not sure whether n°12 is "select" of "standard" grade.
For that size select costs 98 euro, standard costs 74 euro.

I hope to be able to visit Ardennes in 2 or 3 weeks. I'll return the hones that are fully tested. At that point, I'll know all prices and start diverting orders to them. Guys that have reserved one, come first of course.

Best regards,
Bart.

Bart, I'm very interested in Number 20. How can I order it, and do you have pricing information? Thanks!

Hi Paul,

Each time I finish testing a hone I publish its data in the Vault, but I also start a conversation about it in the Cafeteria. It has become a custom that people interested in purchasing it, once I returned the hones to Ardennes (I'm only lending them for doing these tests), make a reservation in the thread. N°20 has already someone's name on it.
I'm returning the current test group maybe next week, or else in three weeks (I'm waiting for the Maurice of Ardennes Coticule to confirm a date). By that time, I'll update the list in the first post of this thread, and start taking definitive orders, that I relay to Ardennes. They will take it from there. I'm not in any way commercially involved in the actual purchase.

At the moment, n°1 and n°5 are still available at Ardennes. I have no idea why no one grabs those. N°1 matches Ray's n°2 to some extent. Ray recently posted about his experiences with that one. N°5 resembles n°25 a lot.

Kind regards,
Bart.

PS: Did you receive my e-mail from last Sunday?

No, your email didn't come through (or if it did I flat missed it, but I just checked again). I know you're busy and probably don't remember exactly what I was looking for, but I'm wanting a Coti that will be good for warped and smiling blades. Which of those two, if any, would you recommend for what I'm looking to do?

I'm not in a hair on fire hurry to get one, so if you think it'd be in my best interest to wait on another more like Number 20 to become available, I don't mind. Thanks, Bart

I updated the first post of this thread with prices. These are based on the prices that Ardennes list on their website. I have calculated bout sizes and tried to differentiate between "select" and "standard" grades. I hope I got it all right. If not, rest assured that Ardennes will correct the price, whether in the buyer's advantage or not.

[note]To all who have reserved one, please confirm your buyer's intent.[/note] I'm returning the hones to Ardennes on December 4th. I'll be relaying orders for the last test group from that day onwards.

Paul: I'm updating n°23 later tonight. It's a small "La petite Blanche" You can't go wrong on that one.
(I've sent the e-mail once more, hope it'll reach you this time)

Bart.

Bart, I did get the email this time, and I sent a reply. Thanks. If you say number 23 is a good one for what I'm looking for, I'll take it. If the gentleman who has reserved number 20 doesn't confirm, I'd be more interested in that one though (unless you tell me I'm wrong :p

Essentially, you know what I'm after, and I'll take whichever one you tell me is the best deal.

Thanks much, Bart!

I'm the gentleman who has reserved number 20. :p I will definitely be getting it, so don't get your hopes up, sorry! Number 23 looks like a nice little La Petite Blanche one. As far as performance goes, it looks pretty much the same as number 20, except for the size. Bart did say that La Petite Blanche seems to be a pretty consistent layer, so I'm sure they all perform similarly.

It was worth a shot considering you had so many reserved

I was hoping there might be a bit of buyer's remorse and you'd jump at the opportunity to let a coti-noob get a good start. Enjoy it:w00t:

Is #3 spoken for? ;)

Yeah, check the OP for a list of all the stones and the lucky gents that have them.

Number 3 is one that I'd like to have some day. Gary should be happy
