Hone of the day (HOTD)

Today, I tortured some stones again.

First my „new“ Essex 6/8 Razor on a Coticule La Veinette 170 x 47mm

Then the Admiral on my Coticule La Grise 200 x 75mm

My wife says I have to many of these „yellow stones“. So I am going to sell some of them (but for sure not the two above):D

@Hellas beautifull razors.

A small razor. It says RUBA on one side 42 Garantie Paris on the other side. The size is 9/16.

The bevel fellt ok. So I started with a La Lorraine - Rouge du Salm (coticule variant). Finished on the thuringen bout.

The HHT failed miserably. The razor feels sharp tough and will cut hair about a 1 cm of the arm. I speculate it will be just fine.

I will just have to be the guinea pig.

I refreshed my gold plated Koraat on a 8k and then my Thurigian, but then I did something new, I stropped on a strop with diamond emulsion/paste. Wow that gave whole another level of smoothness and keenness to the edge.

On 25th I picked up a Wacker quarter hollow from my office. After cleaning an polishing so far as possible, today it was time to hone it. So, I tortured my stones again. First on Naniwa Gouken up to 12k and last finish

And afterwards I also honed my Brookes & Crookes..

Because I was too lazy to do the big stone show today, my "new" Adresso only got to see my big La Grise today. :D The Adresso could be sharpened super easy and fast. After 50 DS on the Levi's-Strop, 100 DS on Boxcalf Russia leather and 30 DS on Deer (Rooty's double strop) I am looking forward to my first shave with it.

@mhharsta and @efsk

I did a rehone of the le grelot 71. I lapped my shapton stones 1k, 2k, and 4k. Put a permanent marker line on the bevel and looked if it disappeared evenly. It did. Then took it to the progression of 1k, 2k and 4k. Then the ozuku with a tomo nagura and ended up on water and stropped.

It will now do HHT along the complete blade. I know there are lot of discussions and five categories of HHT. But it did better as before.

Thanks for the advice. I'll shave with it the next few days.

Because of the storm ciara the speed skating race of my son was cancelled. So I didn't have to hone his skating blades.

Instead I honed these razors. A damast blade leresche and a heljestrand mk 7.

The leresche I only did on the ozuku first with the tomo and then with plain water.

I did the hht. I have two other damast blade frameback. They manage hht fine. The normal steel one's not. But they shave fine.

The heljestrand went to the progression if the shapton 1k, 2k, 4k and then ozuku with tomo's. I did the tree topping fine. I think how it is calles when Hair is shaved about 1.5 cm from the skin.

A 5/8 blade. I cleaned up the blade, but didn't sand it down. I wanted to keep the etching.

Progress 1k, 2k, 4k shapton glass.

Followed nu ozuku with tomo.

Finishing on water. It is a german blade.

Does someone recognize the logo?

Touch up for Koraat Purist and Fil #14 on my baby Escher.
Somehow this stone works better then my mature Escher

How many strokes do you give the razors on the Escher for touch up Onno?
Well I don’t know exactly. This time I guess 10 times circle movements at both sides and then 10 strokes.
The fill made a strange noice. Will find out tomorrow.

This morning this razor on the stones, a C.V. Hjestrand Frameback 11/16 on the tang it says Paris 1855 1867 Stockholm 1866 London 1851 C. V. Hjestrand Eskilstuna Prisbelont. Scales look to be horn not sure.
So had to get 2 dings out first tried my chosera 1k .... man this steel is hard... went nowere So luckely i have a chosera 400 (normally only use this for my kitchenknives) so used this for 1 hour and 15 minutes then the dings where finaly gone. Then onto the 1K and after that Superstone 3k and gouken hayabusa 4k.

For now enough, have to think which stone i would like to finish this one with later in the week
