Prices of stones in the Vault

Thank you Bart and Rich.
I am so HAPPY!
Feels like I just won the lottery.
However Ive been checking at least 7-10 times a day. I checked when I woke up, on my all my breaks at work, before I went to bed and then some.
richmondesi I was sitting on here pretty much all day and all night when it first caught my eye.
The gf finally told me to "unplug" which I did but I just had to do quick checks here and there through out the day.

Sorry folks. I'been on this site for some weeks now.
But I still haven't figured out how to know which stones are sold, released, on hold ... and most important: Where and what to look for if stones actually get released by Bart.

Quote Dr.Ralfson. "Stupid foreigners. Bwahahah !"

So, are you going to change it to require for any reservation written approval from spouses?
:D :D

No, my own spouse wouldn't be happy if perfumed letters start to arrive here.:scared:

But seriously, starting with the next batch, the reservation system will be different. I don't feel good about you guys camping behind a computer, just to get a fair shot at a reservation.

Bart.

In that case... if you change the reservation system you will instead receive perfumed "thank you" notes from spouses.

Payment just sent for No1 :w00t:
I can't believe it was still available!
It will be my first coti

I could never figure out why N°1 was ignored by so many people. It's a perfect Coticule!

Congratulations,
Bart.

See, I'm not the only one who's not able to figure out what's on hold, under investigation, on sale, and gone.
So even under the risk of getting seriously bashed by the senior members I'm asking the newbie question: Are there any stones available at the moment?

Cheers

Nº 13 and Nº 30 both are available. There will be others available soon, I'd suspect (once Bart finishes testing them).

Please understand that this isn't meant to be disrespectful in any way. Those of use who know how the vault works didn't gain this knowledge by some type of secret communiqué. Nor are we blessed with a more intelligence than anyone else. All the information on how this works is in the OP of this thread. Just read it.

In the first post of this thread, you see a list of Coticules.
If it says "already spoken for", this means someone agreed to buy that hone, by the time it went back to Ardennes. At that point, I'm no longer involved, but under normal circumstances, that person should have purchased that Coticule from Ardennes.
If it's in bold, with no name behind it, that stone is back at Ardennes, but no one ever claimed it. You can look it up in the vault and search for the forum thread that holds the additional information. If you decide you would like to purchase the particular stone (there are only 2 of them left), you need to contact me. I'll send your credentials to Ardennes, they'll take it from there and contact you to arrange shipment and payment.
So far for the hones that already went back to Ardennes.

That leaves us with the Coticules that are still at my home, awaiting return them to Ardennes.
Those can be reserved as soon as the test results are published in the Vault. A few days before I return these to Ardennes, I'll update the list with my estimate for price, and I also add the names that made a reservation. At that point, every one must confirm his genuine intent to make the purchase. (Maybe the price ain't right, or the enthusiasm dropped during the few weeks between the point I published test results and the moment of return to Ardennes) Those who confirm interest, will be contacted by Ardennes a few days after I returned the hones.

I know this is complicated, but I really don't want to get involved in selling the Coticules of the Vault. I test them, and since there's no profit for me, I can claim to do so in an unbiased fashion. I also don't have time and interest into following up payments and shipping goods. Those who've dealt with me for getting razors honed within the free honing service, know that I'm not particularly good at visiting the post office...

This batch will be the last that will be dealt with in this fashion. Coticules will still be tested by me, and Ardennes will still offer them for sale to the members of Coticule.be. But the reservation system will be different. How precisely I haven't decided yet. It will be fairer for everyone, and no longer require the constant monitoring of the Vault.

Kind regards,
Bart.

Agreed.
But look at it this way: You guys have been around for quite a while and you have probably followed this thread and this site right from the beginning - or at least for a long time. Reading the latests post it seems to me that some of you even run your own list of which stones are still out there and are on the hunt for these stones.

I found this site about one month ago and really read through many articles, posts, and what else is on this great site. And yet, I'm confused. Let me tell you: for a new member ist is really hard to figure out this procedure. It's not easy to reread a post with 11 pages with all sort of relevant and irrelevant information and puzzle this together with more information that's spread over the site. If this was some sort of entry hurdle for newbies then ok. But reading Bart's last post I don't think this is the intention. It apparently just developped this way.

Anyway, thank you for your hint regarding N°13 and 30. With this and the descriptions in the vault I got the information I need to monitor the remaining stock.

Cheers
BlueDun

EDIT: OOps, didn't see Bart's post. You were probably writing while I was. Thanks dude, even much clearer now for me!

EDIT2. To come back to N°54. It does not show in the list and yet it is published in the vault. Is it really gone ??

Not sure if you read it, but the Vault has an "if you wish to make a reservation: read more" -button, that was added some time ago, to make it easier for newly arriving guys.

Kind regards,
Bart.

Well, the Vault also contains Coticules that are not for sale, or not sold at Ardennes.
This is because the Coticule Vault is not a store. The main idea is to line up Coticules with their peculiar distinctions, in an attempt to map the different Coticule layers (and even sub-layers). Because I mostly depend on Ardennes' willingness to lend test samples to me, it seemed like the best idea to take reservations for them. People would be inquiring at Ardennes anyway, and I considered it a nice treat to the members of the website, and a good way of attracting attention to it. I did not expect that there would be such high interest. But there are Coticules in the Vault that never went to Ardennes. A few of them went home with people that came to visit me at home for a honing lesson. I've tested Maurice Celis' personal Coticule, obviously that one was not for sale. There's a BBW, the currently only remaining one from the "La Veine Lorraine" layer (that one belongs to the small museum cabinet at Ardennes). N°54 was a hone in my possession. I decided to sell it after I found the same one in a smaller size (n°55) that I prefer over the large n°54. It was reserved by Gary, and since it was mine, I shipped it to him directly.

I have more Coticules that I would like to put in the Vault, including a few vintage ones and Coticules coming from other mining sites. But with so many members looking for a Coticule, I gave mostly priority to new ones.

Kind regards,
Bart.

I understand the frustration, I really do, BlueDun. Figuring out what's available and what's spoken for can be tough. In fact, there are multiple threads containing reservations, but the tracking what's happening isn't something that's easier for senior members, really. It's just easier for guys who read all the threads:D

Is 46 taken? I want to claim it if its not. Maybe the coffin will curse my razors!

Yes, it will be my big brother's first Coticule :)

Richmondesi, can you point me to the post where he reserved it? I am not trying to argue whether or not he claimed it, just trying to figure out where else I should be looking for others reservations.

Thanks bud,
Mrmaroon
